Any way you spin it, the upcoming holiday season will look different than years past. COVID-19 has made traveling, connecting, and spending quality time with friends and family more difficult than ever, especially when you have people in your life who are susceptible to health problems. As we head into a time dedicated to thankfulness, reflection, and love, I wanted to share my selections for meaningful, heartfelt gifts for those special people in your life. While we may not be able to come together in person and exchange gifts, these are great options to let the important people in your life know that you’re thinking of them and send them love.
- 1. Lively Mobile+
This product has been a godsend to my family, so I had to include it! With my mom living independently at age 84, I wanted to make sure she could remain on her own while still giving me the peace of mind that she was safe. The Lively Mobile+ is an easy-to-use wearable device, worn as a pendant. My mom can wear it doing everyday activities, and if she needs assistance, it just requires one push of the button to call an Urgent Care operator. This one really turns into a gift for the whole family- my mom stays independent, and we stay relaxed knowing that if she needs help, it will be there.
- 2. Gardening tote
Social distancing this year has resulted in people picking up new hobbies, with gardening high on the list. Gardening is a great individual activity that results in something rewarding. It does, however, require some tools. Giving someone a monogrammed gardening tote not only shows support for their new hobby, it also helps them stay organized! Setting someone up for success with something they’re passionate about is a great approach to gifting.
- 3. Candle
Whether it be a candle or a diffuser, gifting someone a familiar scent will always ensure they think of you when using it. I love burning candles at home, especially during the holidays, because it gives my home a warm, welcoming feeling. Get creative and find a scent from a place you both enjoy, or stay seasonal with something like a balsam candle that will make their home smell like winter.
- 4. Smart2
For the techie in your life, you can’t go wrong with the Smart2. With the same basic capabilities as the Lively Flip, the Smart2 brings an additional level of tech connection with video calling, a touch screen, and an app store where they can download apps like Netflix to watch their favorite shows (or your favorite shows!). Even if you can’t be together in person, the Smart2 gives you the ability to connect “face to face” with loved ones this holiday season.
- 5. Lively Flip
GreatCall’s newest product, the Lively Flip, is an easy to use flip phone that will keep your loved ones connected all year, not just during the holiday season! With a built-in camera, a clear and powerful speaker, and even Alexa voice capabilities, the Lively Flip is a great device that helps you feel connected even with the physical distance we’re currently experiencing.
- 6. Bath bombs
As much joy as they bring, the holidays can also be stressful. Entertaining, shopping, cooking – the tasks can really pile up in a short amount of time. That’s why it’s essential to make time for self-care. I love to unwind with a hot bath, and these bath bombs bring a festive, seasonal feel to the tub. These make a great stocking stuffer if you want to distribute the trio, or gift all three to give someone ample opportunity to unwind.
- 7. Noise-canceling headphones
Similar to the bath bomb, some gifts just need to bring peace and relaxation for the holiday stress. Noise-canceling headphones are a perfect gift because they’re easy to use, don’t require a lot of setup, and bring much-needed relaxation. With so many people working from home this year, whether you’re the employee or just living with one, these headphones are the perfect solution for people that need extra focus. And if you aren’t working, they add a great movie theater experience to anything you’re watching at home.
- 8. Something sweet
Sweet treats are a necessity during the holidays, and it seems like people always want ideas for how to get creative with their sweet gifts. With services like Sugarwish, you can diversify your gift-giving by mix and matching candy, popcorn, or cookies. Even better, you can give them the option to choose for themselves, so you’ll get their preferences right every time!
Even though the holidays will look different this year, there’s no reason not to take pride in the gifts you give, and show appreciation for the people you’re giving them to. By finding the perfect gift, you can end the year on a high!
